This spray is great for cuts, scrapes, scratches, itching, irritations, hot spots, and everyday skin irritations. There are several varieties depending on which oils you have and which oils your pet & animal respond to better.

10 drops Lavender
10 drops Frankincense
10 drops Myrrh
10 drops Copaiba
(Optional 2 drops Helichrysum - especially if fresh wound)
1 tbsp colloidal silver (I love the Sovereign Silver brand 10PPM)
Top off with 100% pure aloe juice.
Spray bottle – 1 oz for large dogs 2 oz for smaller dogs – 2oz – 4 oz for pocket pets and birds (the smaller the animal, the more you want the spray diluted)

Mix all ingredients together and shake before each use. Spray the area as needed 2-3 times per day.

If the animals wants to lick the area, cover lightly with a bandage, tee-shirt, or use a cone to prevent licking. (This spray is safe if they do lick it but it does prolong the process.)

8 oz. Cold-Pressed Unrefined Organic Coconut Oil
1.25 oz. Beeswax
3 drops Vitamin E oil or Lanolin
5 drops Helichrysum Essential Oil
10 drops Myrrh Essential Oil

10 drops Copaiba Essential Oil
10 drops Lavender Essential Oil

In a double boiler, heat coconut oil and beeswax until melted. Remove from heat and wait until mixture starts to cool (just a few minutes) before adding the other ingredients. Soothing Pet Shampoo Recipe

For skin irritation or itchy animals, consider regular bathing with a natural shampoo to help soothe their irritated skin.

3 oz. unscented Castile soap
3 oz. water
1 oz aloe vera juice
1 oz vegetable glycerin
3 drops Lavender or Roman Chamomile essential oil
*Optional: 1 oz organic apple cider vinegar - use if shampoo is not rinsing well
*Optional: 1/4 tsp. fractionated coconut oil or almond oil – if more moisture is needed
*Optional: 1/4 cup ground up oatmeal (use a blender to grind it up)

Add more water if needed to get desired consistency.

Mix all ingredients together well and shampoo normally, be careful to avoid the eyes and nose. Rinse well after shampooing.

Pet Ear Cleaning Recipe

To support in treating infections as well as preventing them.

Equal parts apple cider vinegar and non alcohol witch hazel (okay if it has aloe vera in it)
– add colloidal silver – a couple tablespoons – must be at least 10 ppm as far as the colloidal silver

Clean ears by putting liquid mixture on cotton ball or pad and drip a drop in each ear and manipulating ear cone – will hear squishy noise.

Clean out liquid with cotton ball. Repeat with fresh cotton for second ear and clean twice a week.

You can put diluted Lavender essential oil around base of ear but never put essential oils in ear canal. Put a bit on cotton ball and wipe around the inside of the ear just never in the ear canal.

And use Arborvitae, Lavender or Basil (with larger dogs) around the base of the ear for yeast, unwanted bacteria, or pathogens. Cats – omit Basil and just use very dilute (1% or less) Lavender after cleaning ears.

Optimum Pet Ear Health Recipe

Mix the above ingredients in one tablespoon of Fractionated Coconut Oil. Use a Q-tip to rub the Essential Oil mixture in the FLAP of the ear (but not in the ear canal). Dilute in two tablespoons of Fractionate Coconut Oil for cats and pocket dogs.

De-Skunking Recipe

1/4 cup baking soda
1 teaspoon (or a little more) liquid dishwashing soap (Dawn works great)
Add a drop of Lavender or Roman Chamomile Essential Oil (optional)

Mix all ingredients and be sure to wear gloves. Soak the animal with the mixture and rinse off thoroughly. Repeat if necessary.

Horse Fly Spray Recipe

1 bottle of TerraShield (15 mL/ 250 drops)
Add Geranium for extra tick repellant if needed.

5-10 drops dish-washing soap (I use a natural free and clear dish soap)
Top off with filtered water

Directions:

Mix all ingredients in the Spray Bottle and top off with filtered water. Shake before each use.

⚠️ As with all fly sprays, avoid contact with horses eyes!

A perceived challenge in modern healthcare is to have an open mind to alternative models of treatment and therapies. With traditional training, the majority of healthcare workers in the United States tend to be closed minded in regard to therapeutic use of essential oils. This is due in part to the traditional training and modern healthcare practices. Research, however, is indicating the therapeutic value of essential oils, and as a result, many medical professionals who are highly trained and educated in modern healthcare practices have become open to the possibility of integrating essential oils into the traditional healthcare system.

Through our own experiences of enlightenment, we now have a unique perspective for both traditional and alternative modalities. We have witnessed a new era developing among physicians and healthcare professionals who have a willingness to explore the therapeutic value of essential oils. We have the privilege and opportunity of working with incredible, well-respected professionals at Vanderbilt University Medical Center who are open to change for the better. As nurses working long hours in the emergency department, we experience an environment that is challenging and rewarding, but induces high levels of stress and fatigue. For this very reason, there are many hospitals today struggling to preserve and maintain one of their most valuable healthcare resources—nurses.

Through our own personal use of essential oils we have learned how to effectively reduce and manage our stress. We recognized an opportunity to improve a stressful and challenging work environment by diffusing dōTERRA essential oils, which we felt would have a positive impact on our coworkers. Our idea was well received, but also posed specific challenges. Initial concerns expressed over diffusing oils were if they would comply with hospital regulations, provide the standard of care our patients expected, and whether there would be any adverse reactions. A wellness committee was formed to review relevant research, and with time, these challenges were easily overcome.

The wellness committee approved the use of essential oils and defined a research model to analyze the direct effects of diffusing dōTERRA essential oils in a hospital environment for the perceived outcome of stress reduction and increased energy levels. Our staff was surveyed for 30 days pre and post implementation. Before the use of essential oils, 41% of the staff felt workrelated stress very often; after the use of essential oils, only 3% felt work-related stress very often. The feelings of being overwhelmed changed from 25% very often before implementation to 2% after implementation. Feelings of being well equipped to handle stressors at work changed from 13% very often before implementation to 58% after implementation. Perceptions of staff optimal energy level increased from 33% to 77%. Following the implementation of the essential oil initiative, 84% of the staff strongly agreed and 10% agreed that diffusing essential oils contributed to a more positive work environment.

This initiative to create a more positive work environment in a hospital setting is an important milestone in our pursuit to bring together the traditional and alternative modalities of healthcare into a synergistic relationship. For more than two years, the Adult Emergency Department at Vanderbilt University Medical Center has diffused dōTERRA essential oils with no adverse reactions. We continue the pursuit to help others understand the medicinal and therapeutic value of essential oils. Imagine the possibilities if essential oils can have this kind of impact on the working environment, even changing the perception of one’s stress and energy levels. Theoretically, even this small step can improve patient outcomes based on the care they are receiving from a nurse who is feeling less stressed and more energetic.

There are, of course, many ways essential oils could be incorporated into the hospital setting and, perhaps more importantly, beyond the hospital setting. We are just beginning this journey, one experience at a time. It is our belief that in the near future complementary and alternative modalities will work hand in hand with our traditional healthcare system with the foundational groundwork being laid as we speak. With the efforts of those sharing and educating in the home and in their communities about the benefits of dōTERRA Certified Pure T herapeutic Grade essential oils, combined with the efforts of those in the medical and science fields, our mission to share the powerful benefits of essential oils with the world is well on its way. BACKGROUND

The purpose of this study is to investigate theimpact of the essential oil, Bergamot Citrus bergamia, on the endoscopy clinical staff at the Huntsman CancerInstitute and University of Utah Hospital. The second goal of this study is to identify whether a change in staff mood can affect patient satisfaction scores as reported in PressGaney.

RESULTS

Statistical significance was found with the questions “How motivated were you?” and “How often did you feel optimum energy levels?”.
When the diffusers were on, staff members felt more “motivated” and had “optimum energy levels”.
No statistical significance was found between staff mood and patient satisfaction scores as reported by Press Ganey.

Researchers at Indiana University said they’ve discovered a chemical compound in essential oils that improves the healing process in mice when topically applied to a skin wound.

Scientists said the finding could lead to improved treatments for skin injuries in humans.

St. Elizabeth Healthcare announces a partnership with doTERRA International, an integrative health and wellness company and the world leader in the Global Aromatherapy and Essential Oils market. doTERRA will play a foundational role in the development and implementation of the forthcoming Center for Integrative Oncology within St. Elizabeth’s new Cancer Center in Edgewood opening in the fall of 2020.

“When the St. Elizabeth Cancer Center opens next fall, it will include nearly an entire floor of the building that is dedicated to the holistic, patient-centered approach to care known as integrative oncology,” shared Garren Colvin, President and Chief Executive Officer of St. Elizabeth Healthcare. “We want patients (and their caregivers) to have as much support and access to resources as possible under one roof.”

Immune System Support Essential Oil Recipe

This recipe is all about helping you with fighting off stuff you catch out in the world. There are lots of variations available but this is the basic recipe, such as adding Copaiba, Melissa, Lemongrass, or any other oil that works for you. There are two options to utilize this recipe.

4 drops Frankincense
4 drops Lemon
4 drops On Guard
4 drops Oregano
4 drops Tea Tree
4 drops Thyme

Mix all essential oils in 4 oz water, take a sips and gargle, and then swallow until you've consumed the total amount.

I prefer to reduce the Oregano to 2 drops unless I need 4 drops.

Alternatively, utilize the gelcap method where you add 2-4 of each essential oil into a gelcap and top off with fractionated coconut oil.

Take at the first sign of symptoms like runny nose or cough and repeat every 4 hours until symptoms resolve. You can also take this every 20 minutes for the first 1 - 2 hours then every 4 hours as needed.
